If there is one thing we love, it is up and coming movie stars. In the case of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, he may be the next action hero, replacing the ranks of Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. However, Johnson is so comfortable with being in front of a camera that his possible roles could be endless.
Johnson's big break into film came with his role of Mathayus the Scorpion King in Stephen Sommers The Mummy Returns. Though he had very little screen time, unless your counting his CGI character, it did set up his next role for his own feature film in The Scorpion King. Besides bringing the extremely hot actress Kelly Hu back into the spotlight, King allowed The Rock to prove that he can play a lead role and demand the audiences attention in a film or, at least, an action film. The guy was also incredibly charming, which means a lot when it comes to actors and their fan base.
Dwayne Johnson has since done a slew of films that include the hilarious, and stunt filled, movie The Rundown with Seann William Scott. His role as Beck gave Johnson the perfect opportunity to show how entertaining and funny he could be while also allowing him a shot at buddy comedy; something he will now be doing a lot more of. Even with funnyman Seann William Scott sharing the screen, The Rock was still able to hold his own.
Expect to see The Rock dominate theaters in 2006 with a bunch of blockbuster movies that feature action, comedy or both.
