I'm not sure who owns which characters. The upcoming Superman looks lame, but Smallville is an enjoyable take on the character. Spidey and the X-Men will just keep coming. I think the best treatments are ones where the characters sound like more than sketches. If it's just action and whiz-bang gadgets and corny one-liners and lectures from the bad guys, they're not digging deep enough.
