Fantastic film- I was lucky enough to see it in Brazil before it was released in the US. Now I'm in Savannah, GA, and it still hasn't come out. Bah.
Anyways- this is definitely the best film of the year in my opinion, if for no other reason than that it reminds me of what fairy tales really should be. Go back and read anything by the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, or any of the great fairy-tale masters. They're dark. They're frightening. They don't always end happily. But they're utterly entrancing, and completely envelop you in their world. Gullermo Del Toro has elevated himself into the ranks of the great storytellers with this film. I can't wait to see it again.
