Default What do you think about all the Marvel comics being adapted?

What do you think about all the Marvel comics being adapted? I know Lee the author and creator of many of the adapted Marvel comics we watch on the big screen won a major lawsuit and now gets a 10% commission off of every adapted movie made off of his comic characters. Ka ching. Bling Bling.
But anyways I think the majority of them are decient. Such as X-Men and what not.

I am a big fan of the Marvel universe...so I take the mindsight the more the better. Even if some of the recent releases aren't as good as the blockbusters Spider-Man and X-Men, they are still watchable.

It is fun to see all the familiar characters on the big screen. I am surprised we haven't seen a Captain America movie yet.

I dig it. However, we will notice a lean toward the graphic novels soon enough. They are usually darker, more adult, and have completed stories.

Easy to make a film when the storyboard is already there for you.

Marvel is a big dog, so I guess we should also expect to see their logo before many of the adaptations.

I have nothing against taking a comic book story and making it into a movie, but I think that many of movies can be or should be a little darker. Too many movies based on comic books tell happy innocent stories, but I don't think they need to be like that.

I'm not sure who owns which characters. The upcoming Superman looks lame, but Smallville is an enjoyable take on the character. Spidey and the X-Men will just keep coming. I think the best treatments are ones where the characters sound like more than sketches. If it's just action and whiz-bang gadgets and corny one-liners and lectures from the bad guys, they're not digging deep enough.

As long as the movies they make are decent, I don't see any reason to complain.
But, people get angry when they make terrible movies like Fantastic Four, from a good comic series.

I always preferred the Marvel Universe to the DC one--better heroes, better bad guys, more complex storylines. Be nice if this always turned up in the movies, wouldn't it? I wanna see Juggernaut as one of the movie villains.

It's all hot or miss depending on who's doing the films. Remember, that these movies are geared also to make a ton of money on merchandise and toys.

Fantastic Four was just a case of a rush job to cash in on the comic book movie fad.

The X-Men and Spiderman sequels are more well crafted so as to reap repeat business in theaters and PPV, DVD etc as well as tie in merchandise.

I thought The Hulk was well done in the sense that the story of his creation was given more than just a scene or two. Often times with the comic adaptations there is little substance in the back story so the film has to be visually impressive to get past that fact.

I agree, the adaptations seem to be too colorful. If they made Ghost Rider like they did V for Vendetta or Underworld, it'd be a lot better.

Speaking of Ghost Rider, I've had no news recently about its development. Anything out there?
