I wonder why it is that after a huge hit they have so much trouble being successful in anything else. Like you look at the cast of Seinfeld, nothing major came out of any of them, same as friends. Any ideas? Is it just because they are so stereotyped in that one role?

It's not just sitcoms, but any long-running TV show in any category. Many actors get typecast and you seldom see them after the show ended. Look at Star Trek, the Next Generation. How often do you see Michael Dorn anymore, or Jonathan Frakes or Gates McFadden. Even Brent Spiner is only turning up intermittently.

I never got Seinfeld - disliked all the characters, so I'm not unhappy to see them all fail in any other venture.

Yah, I was never a fan of seinfeld characters either, especially George and Elaine, they really just bothered me. I wish "joey" would have been a bigger success though.
