Kojak

Okay...is anyone besides me disturbed at the new Kojak series? Is there any reason to take an old series with a Greek (or whatever he was supposed to be) hero with an ethnic name and cast Ving Rhames in the role? I love Ving, don't get me wrong, but to me it's like casting Nicholas Cage as Shaft. WTF?

Telly Sevalas was great in that role. Those are tough shoes to fill. Casting Ving Rhames is just another Hollywood effort at being PC. To be fair though, there aren't many positive black role models from that era so perhaps this is a way to create some.

The thing is, that era is long gone. We don't NEED role models from the past; we need current role models, and I don't know why they just didn't create a whole new detective show, instead of trying to resurrect Kojak in a PC mode. I would happily watch Ving in just about anything (he's incredibly hot), but watching him sucking on the Kojak trademark lollipop freaks me out.

I'm tired of seeing remakes of good original shows... jsut put the reruns on and we'll enjoy them! Why destroy our memories??
