In anticipation of the wide release of No Country for Old Men this Friday, we have been hooked up with one (1) autographed poster to give away.
The story begins when Llewelyn Moss (Brolin) finds a pickup truck surrounded by a sentry of dead men. A load of heroin and two million dollars in cash are still in the back. When Moss takes the money, he sets off a chain reaction of catastrophic violence that not even the law - in the person of aging, disillusioned Sheriff Bell (Jones) - can contain. As Moss tries to evade his pursuers - in particular a mysterious mastermind who flips coins for human lives (Bardem) - the film simultaneously strips down the American crime drama and broadens its concerns to encompass themes as ancient as the Bible and as bloodily contemporary as this morning's headlines. ![]() For a chance to win, all you have to do is respond to this thread with... Give one style of film that you'd like to see either Javier Bardem or Josh Brolin in. Since both are great character actors, feel free to exaggerate. I'll select two winners this Friday, November 16th. First winner to PM their shipping info gets it. The poster is autographed by The Coen Brothers. No Country for Old Men will experience wide carnage November 16th. Good Luck! flabbybuns |

Wow! What a great film. I traveled an hour to find the closest theater showing it early (Evanston, IL). It was well worth it. I can't wait to watch it again this weekend!
Anyway, back to the question. What style of film would I like to see Javier Bardem in? First of all, Bardem really surprised me in this film. I had no idea he was so talented. While watching the film, I thought to myself, Anton Chigurh is the first truly scary 'bad guy' since Jack Torrence (Jack Nicholson) in The Shining. He does not need to jump out of a closet or yell and scream to be effective; it's just his walk and his talk that does it. The only thing this character was missing was a back story. I think the audience is left with a thirst for more about who he is. I would love to see Javier Bardem take on a Jack Torrence type role. A role that gives him way more camera time; a role that requires a lot more explaining of who he is and where he is going. Something very gritty and sublime, without going too overboard. The Anton Chigurh character was so eerie because he looked to real; to close for comfort. I really felt like there is a chance I could bump into a guy like that in a dark alley. I am a huge Twilight Zone fan. I would love to see him in a remake of an episode. Something that makes the audience wonder if the lead character is experiencing the supernatural, the paranoia, or some alternate universe. Give Bardem a weird, eerie, lead role, and bring the audience into an even stranger world. An 'inside the mind of a sociopath' setting, where his reality is far from societies reality. Show us what he is seeing, then show us the reality of his actions. I am very excited to see what other roles he takes in the future, and I am going to have to re-visit his earlier work. Past or future, however, it will be very hard to find Bardem this close to perfection again. |

I really liked Josh Brolin in American Gangster. The corrupt Detective Trupo that he played was probably his best character performance that I've seen thus far and I would definitely like to see him in similar style again. Something perhaps a little more overblown, perhaps a street cop with more of a role.
I'm really excited for No Country for Old Men though. I keep hearing great things about this film. I hope to catch it in its first week at the theaters. |

I just finished the book "No Country for Old Men", and now I can't wait to see the movie this weekend!I would love to see Javier Bardem as Pablo Escobar. He is such a versatile actor that he could really kill in that role. ![]() |

Ah, same here Annyong!!! Wasn't it such an entertaining book?!
I really hope the movie expands to NJ soon! I'm such a huge Coen Brothers fans, I'd die to have this autographed poster! I can't really speak about Javier Bardem, as No Country for Old Men will be the first time for me to see him. But Josh Brolin is great. Just recently in both Planet Terror and American Gangster he blew me away! He is quite fantastic and I would love to see him in just like a straight-up comedy, I really think he could be hilarious! haha |
