The Matrix has to be one of the best shooter films to date. It was revolutionary when it first came out with its fight scenes, CGI, and interesting storyline. It was cool to see Neo (Keanu Reeves, like I need to tell you) asking for "guns, lots of guns" and all of the sudden multiple rows of assorted guns were made available. This provided for an amazing scene when Neo entered the lobby on his way to rescue Morpheus. He faced an entire S.W.A.T. team and ended up killing them all without being hit. It was awesome watching the marble in the lobby being shredded to pieces with all of the bullets whizzing back and forth, and Neo and Trinity using their own guns and using the S.W.A.T. team's guns against them. The music in the background was great as well and fit the scene perfectly. After that was the most known scene when Neo dodges bullets shot by an agent with the 360 degree camera view. Even near the end of the film, Neo enters yet another gun fight and faced off against Agent Smith as both emptied an entire clip at each other in slow motion, and neither one hit each other. This movie was definitely amazing when I first saw it, and the 20 times since, and although the sequels were alright with more shooter scenes, they can't compare to the first one.
By the way, I got to see Smokin' Aces at my college campus when they showed a special sneak peek and it was amazing. I'm definitely going to see it again in theaters and purchase the DVD when it comes out. The movie has some dark comedy, amazing gunfight scenes, and a lot of interesting assassins. In fact, you should not be reading this, but going to see the film right now. I hope that they make a prequel to the movie showing all of the assassins' beginnings. |

I'm going to go with Unforgiven, the Clint Eastwood classic with Gene Hackman as a truly Heartless villain.
