Simply put this moving is astounding, i have literally gone to see at at my theater several times already goin to each person i know telling them to catch this film. The fact it mixes such a deep fairy tale with matters of war and a childs escape is amazing with the stunning visual work alone. I have already asked my theater for this poster but if i could win one i believe i would go nuts i'd probably soil myself

The movie had lots of eye candy. Even though the movie was dark, many scenes just looked pretty. It was as though the real world was part of the subterranean world--it was also magical looking. Another reason why I loved the movie was the best movie I saw in 2006 was because how Ofelia was able to overcome a tyrant and stay true to her Princess Moanna spirit.

The director, Guillermo del Toro, is really able to visually present a fantasy film that draws you in. I also like how they mix prosthetics and cgi to make really cool creatures that don't detract from the story.

I'm so glad I was near a theater that got this on the 16th; great movie!
The story is fairly original (perhaps not the main premise and many of the standard fantasy "hooks" throughout, but there's plenty of original content in it), interesting, and well crafted. The directing and acting is superb and combined with beautifully done creatures and environments really draws you into the film. I haven't seen such a good fantasy film since the first Lord of the Rings was released. ![]() |

Fantastic film- I was lucky enough to see it in Brazil before it was released in the US. Now I'm in Savannah, GA, and it still hasn't come out. Bah.
Anyways- this is definitely the best film of the year in my opinion, if for no other reason than that it reminds me of what fairy tales really should be. Go back and read anything by the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, or any of the great fairy-tale masters. They're dark. They're frightening. They don't always end happily. But they're utterly entrancing, and completely envelop you in their world. Gullermo Del Toro has elevated himself into the ranks of the great storytellers with this film. I can't wait to see it again. |

The fact that Guillermo Del Toro directed it already assured it of being 1 of the Best last year.

Guillermo del Toro is one of the most intessting directors in todays movie world. Pan Labyrinth is like no movie I have seen in years. The acting and especially the directing makes this a movie to own.
