In anticipation of the release of Pan's Labyrinth to DVD this May 15th, we have been hooked up with five (5) copies to give away.
![]() You can stream the TV spot for the DVD here: http://pdl.stream.aol.com/newline/gl/newline/V/pans/pans_masterpiece-may15_df_480x360_dl.mov PAN’S LABYRINTH is a gothic fairy tale set against the postwar repression of Franco’s Spain. Del Toro’s sixth and most ambitious film, PAN’S LABYRINTH combines the historic and moral themes of his acclaimed Spanish Civil War ghost story THE DEVIL’S BACKBONE with the protean visual creativity and gripping dynamics of such previous films as HELLBOY and BLADE II. Harnessing the formal characteristics of classic folklore to a 20th Century landscape, del Toro delivers a timeless tale of good and evil, bravery and sacrifice, love and loss. We are giving away five (5) copies of the single-disc version. Single-Disc Edition Content • Video prologue from director Guillermo del Toro • Feature audio commentary from director Guillermo del Toro • Animated menus • Theatrical and teaser trailers • DVD-ROM content with Spanish & English Screenplays, synchronized storyboards and photo galleries • Sneak Peeks • 16x9 widescreen (1.85:1) version of the film • Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1-EX and Spanish Stereo Surround 2.0 • Spanish 6.1 DTS-ES • English & Spanish subtitles • Closed captions Contest begins meow and ends on May 28th. Five copies and five chances to win. Just make a post below with either your favorite scene from Pan's (don't spoil the film, however) or comment on one of your other favorite fantasies. Good luck! flabbybuns |

Since I havn't seen Pan's labyrinth yet I have to comment on another fantasy film - Labyrinth. It's a 1986 film starring Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie. It has some interesting parallels to Pan's but it's no where near as dark. Although 20 years ago it was considered a dark movie, too scary for children. If you watch it now it seems pretty tame.

My favorite fantasy film is Lord Of The Rings. Of the three I'd have to say Return Of The King is my favorite. Catch it tonight on TBS! (Does this make me a spammer?)

This is a very magical movie. Many of the scenes are great. I love when Ofelia retrieves the key from the Toad's belly. That one is one of my favorites, but I do have to say the whole movie is great.

It's a good movie. I didn't find it much of a fantasy movie. It's more about a child's imagination to me or this mysterious world. My favorite part of the movie is the scenery. I swear some scenes looked like they came out of a painting. They were so beautiful and detailed. My favorite scene is pretty much everything except for those really gross moments :P

Hey everyone, I am a huge fan of Guillermo del Toro. Unfortunately I was not able to catch this film in theatres - it wasn't playing anywhere near my house
- so I hope to be able to catch it on DVD .. and what's better than owning a copy - moreover a FREE copy from CanMag! Sounds too good to be true. Anyways, I'll just have to name my favorite fantasy film...drumroll please... Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban! (also Lord of the Rings..but I just wanted to say something different for a change). Thanks CanMag for holding such a cool contest! Good luck to all!!! |
