I highly recommend this movie by Deepa Mehta.It's part of a trilogy, Fire Earth Water.

The movie in question explores the conditon of widows in India. It involves a very young girl who had lost her husband and is brought to live with other widows one of who is the beautiful actress Lisa Ray.

Deepa Mehta is a remarkable director. Though "Water" wasn't as good as "The Lives of Others", "Pan's Labyrinth", or even "Volver", it is definitely a great addition to the international library of Oscar nominated films.
