I saw "Fantastic Four - Rise of the Silver Surfer" this past weekend and really didn't have any great expectations for it. With sequels, most of the time, the original is the only really worth watching although some sequels turn out not so bad.Well, let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised with this one. I hadn't really enjoyed the original that much and was hoping for more. I got it with this one. Lots of laughs, not the silly type but rather the clever ones. Some very good ideas, like the one where Mr. Fantastic (a wonderful, very talented Ioan Gruffud! A Welsh Actor that never ceases to amaze me) is on the dance floor at his bachelor party, twirling two ladies with his arms really stretched out and he gets caught by Sue while doing it! Hilarious! The chemistry between the actors is excellent. Although we know those are comic book heroes, what they live make sense and you would almost expect to bump into them somewhere and see just how human they are. The Human Torch, I've seen guys like him out there (not turning into flames, of course) but putting on the heat every time they see a comely lady! Litterally a bad boy that would make you melt (in his case, litterally)! The comment of one of his flame to the enquiry of a reporter: "What does one need to be The Human Torch's girlfriend?" and the answer of the girl: "Fireproof lingerie!" Good one! Seeing him mature up in this one though was great. Will he ever change his ways for good? I don't think so! Seeing that even a monster like "The Thing" superbly played by Michael Chiklis can even find love with a woman who sees him only with the eyes of her heart, probably the best way to look at somebody. Of course, if Victor Von Doom (the very handsome machievalic Julian McMahon) didn't show up, it wouldn't be the same. But we do need somebody to stir up the mess a little bit. For me, to be actually be able to see Von Doom in his human, almost perfect form (McMahon is a very handsome, versatile and very talented actor who seems to have a propensy to play villains) was even better! In his human form, you can see even better in his eyes what little plot he is about to hatch. What can I say about the Silver Surfer? Well, usually that kind of CGI Effect leaves me unimpressed but I have to say that not since "Terminator 2 - Judgment Day" where Robert Patrick's Terminator reassemble itself into liquid metal have my jaw dropped to the floor in awe! Very well done! As were the craters, the collapse of the London's Eye and the Galactis monster! Let's not forget Jessica Alba! This girl is not only nice to the eye but very talented! I am not into women at all but even I find her gorgeous! Plus she has talent! Her chemistry with Ioan Gruffud makes sense, you would believe that they are indeed together. When she has wedding jitters and she confides them to Kerry Washington, it feels real and all that coming from the Invisible Woman! She even gets to have enough of all the media craziness about her upcoming wedding! I remember that I had liked Jessica in her acting debut series "Dark Angel" but had soon enough given up on the series. Talk to me about great entertainment! I don't care if the critics didn't go for it as I was really entertained! I laughed, I was on the edge of my seat, I was left in awe and I even cried, at first when one of the character seems to die (I won't mention which one) and then when the Surfer (who turns out not to be really the villain here) recommends to one of the FF to "cherish every moment you have with ...."! To me, definitely 4 1/2 stars, the best sequel this Summer and I hope it kills the competition at the Box Office! |

The only problem I had with this move was Galactis. A cloud? Come on! Maybe they were roped on time (movie is only 92 minutes) could have been better and actually cast someone to play this giant intergalactic baddie.

i loved the surfer, and jessica alba was hot, but the rest of the movie was bland. come on, they had the human torch as a super skrull rip off.

i loved the second one. i also liked the first one a lot, and this one was def. much better.
and i heard from soneone that the whole "johnny super skrull" thing was in the comics. i dont really know much of the 4's old history tho, so i don't know personally. but i thought the surfer looked great, and once i actually saw the galactus cloud, i completely understood how a cloud could do stuff like that. galactus was HUGE! and when the cloud went over saturn, you could kinda see the outline of his helmet. and there was a face on the cloud when it appeared over earth. |

I have heard both good & bad reviews, but it is still hard to judge without seeing it myself.
It looks good in the previews though. |

I was wondering if this movie was any good or not. I actually liked the 1st one even though I had my doubts before I went, & I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. However, I was afraid the sequel wouldn't be any good & haven't gone to see it yet. I will have to go check it out now.

Thought the first one was ok, the sequel much, much better. Liked the humour, the action and also the visuals were pretty sweet, too. An excellent summer blockbuster.

Hi all!
As you may know, a lot of cell phone usage is actually for adult purposes. The Daily Mash did an article about Google's new phone and spread of porn with GPhone porn. In the end rapidly growing number of people use sites such as Sex on Cell for mobile porn. It's great that Youtube for sex on cell has alternatives now. http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/s...t-20070905382/ Tomara |
