Are there still movies that are longer than 2 and a half hours? I have watched Gone With The Wind and I think that's more than 4 hours. I think old movies are very long. Why is that?

The longest hollywood movies these days tend not to be longer than 2.5 hours, once cut and edited. Apparently the average viewer will lose interest if it drags on for too long.
Another example of the dumbing down of cinema. |

Stuff like Lord of the rings I just couldn't watch. 3-4 Hours in a cinema drives me crazy. I think they should stick with 2-3 hour ones.

I read something about the longest film ever made a little while back. It's some chinese film that was made in the 60's I think. It ran for approximately 27 hours.
