Default Eragon

It feels great being able to post about Eragon here, instead of upcoming movies.

Anyone seen it yet? Your thoughts? I don't get to see it until 7:30 EST.

I know the reviews haven't been perfect, but I'm still looking forward to it.

Default Not yet, but will see in the next week or two

I've read the first book and my son has read both and wants to see it; Hope to get to the theatre soon. I missed the reviews this weekend and that may be just as well.

My son and I are wondering how close these stick to the books because there is a lot of fire-breathing dragon shots in the previews and in the books there is only the one dragon and she doesn't know how to breath fire yet. Perhaps the fire-breathing scenes are "flashbacks" from stories Brom tells Eregaon?

Angry I almost cried I was so angry!!

This movie was so bad it wasn't even close to good. I've read the book and loved the books. I won't go into any detail as to why since most of you have not seen it and need to form your own opinion but from my point of view it was awful. My opinion about the people that made the movie is that they were trying to put out a Narnia type movie to make Narnia type money and paid no attention to actually making a good movie, they took advantage of the recent success of such movies as LOTR, Star Wars, Harry Potter and Narnia to name of few and tried to make a quick buck. I also feel that the movie was at least an hour to short.

Default Sorry to hear it.

Still haven't seen this, but read quite a few reviews (not good). The reviews hit on some of the same complaint I had when I read the book (Star Wars/LOTR ripoff etc.), but I was still able to enjoy the book and found it to be a worthwhile read. This may not be the case with the movie. I'll try to see it later in the week anyway.

The other complaint I had with the book is that Eragon fainted or got knocked out in the middle of a crisis situation at least half a dozen times only to come to and find everthing okay. I plan on counting Eragon pass-out moments in the movie!!

Cool

The book/movie does have some stuff from Star Wars & Rings but hell there's plenty of stories out there that have the same influence in them.

As for Eragon passing out while using magic that is just him not trained well enough to use magic and happens less and less as the books go on and only a few times in the movies.

Default Eragon

i saw the movie, and to be honest, the only thing i didn't like was the pace.

I think it would have been good if it were longer, and explained more things.

it just feels like they shot more scenes, but the studio wanted it shorter, so i'm hoping the dvd will have some good scenes.

and i didn't get the very end(not gonna spoil it).

i plan on readin the book now just to see the differences

I haven't seen it. I was really looking forward to it, but I haven't heard anyone say its good. Its too bad because I'm such a Lord of the Rings nut that my ears perk up when I see anything similar.

I don't know....maybe I'll check it out on DVD....

Does anyone who's seen it think it was worth watching?

Default I've calmed down a bit

I had just read the books a few weeks before I went to see this movie and think that had a lot to do with why I hated the flick. I know better than anyone that the movie can't be totally like the book. But I'll have to agree with PrestoMovie about the running time. A good 45 more minutes would have helped this movie. It also looked as if the scenes where cut short for sure, so I hope an extended edition will come out on DVD.
