Why did 24 kill Edger?

Anyone got a clue or a thought as to why 24 killed edger ? Was it to put clauie in command or some other reason that i cannot figure out as to why he was killed. And whats with tony's death also . Geez why kill them ?

the show is making a point that they can and will kill any major character.

edgar was good choice. tony's death seemed excessive.

I agree with Tony's death being excessive. But - yes, I have to agree with moviebuffuc that they are trying to make the point that anything can happen.

Though it's getting pretty old now, and it just seems like they are trying to find ways to shock the viewers...and unfortunately, the only way they think they can do so, is to kill major characters.

I have a feeling Curtis will be next.

I agree with Movie buff. 24 is a show with unexpected turns and twists. I never expected Edgar or Tony to die. It's just showing how great 24 can be with it's cliffhangers and it's drama and action which makes you want to flock to the TV every Monday.

I almost cried when Edgar was killed. There was that moment in time when Chloe and Edgar were staring at each other, and then he fell down and die.

I really hated how Tony die. It seemed very sudden and such. He has been with the show for 5 years, and I'm sad to see him go.

i was so shocked when he died, since he's a tech you think he's nice and safe at CTU HQ then poof he's gone.

Maybe to try and keep viewers on their toes, and also so that such publicity conversations such as these will happen

What I thought was a pretty good minor twist, was the whole thing about that girl who replaced Edgar. She said that the guy that was giving her problems had sexually harrased her. I think that all the watcher's hearts went to her when we heard this, but it was my surprise when she was very parinoid and took things the wrong way.

Curtis is on a mission to go down. Just this season he's been shot twice. twice in the same "day" he needs a break.
