Hi thrawn,

An "indie film" is one that isn't made by a huge corporate studio. Sure, they usually get bought up by big guys before they have any hope of a theatrical release, since that takes millions to setup. There is a bit of the underdog glow to the indie film world. The big corporations are afraid to tackle new ideas or go too far, since they might upset shareholders or advertisers. Indie filmmakers can do whatever they want, and have to get more creative due to lack of money. Classics like "Army of Darkness" and "The Blair Witch" were good examples of indie films.

Ah, i see, thank you. I've seen one of those, medea, that was pretty dire, there were about 5 lines of speech throughout and no telling who the characters were. Are they all like that or are some really good and worth me watching?

Now now. There's no more reason to say "all indie films are bad" as there is to say "all big corporate productions are wonderful". People are people. Frankly, I like the little guys. Have even produced a few no-budget shorts of my own. I think everyone should be welcome to show what they've got. Would be a sad world if only millionaires get to say stuff.

Thumbs up

Excellent reply SailorB.
One should give oppurtunity to others.
Then only we can decide how much talents they have in them.

Some amazing indie films have come up. Lost in Translation, Nosferatu, Sideways, City of God, Memento ... those are all amazing indie films.
