Default Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner

I thought I had mentioned this one before, but I can't find it anywhere. Maybe it was on another board. Anyway, this is unique in that it was produced by Inuit, in their language, and is about one of their legends. This site has lots of info and is very interesting. If you can get a chance to watch it, do.

It's an Inuit legend about Atanarjuat who has to run for his life from two brothers in his community (thinking he had a little fling with the wife of one of them...or one of them had his wife and it all got ugly) and is taken in by a family who find him in the snow, naked and bleeding. Ultimately, he comes home to face the others and put things right again. It's different and really good. Have a look for it in Blockbuster or ask them to get it in.

Thanks, QuietLunatic. The movie theatre I worked at showed it so I saw the poster before and always wondered if I should see it.

Absolutely do, if you get the chance. It's so unlike anything coming out of Hollywood and very refreshing in that regard while retaining very high quality of production, direction and so on. I really want to see it again and I might have to buy myself a copy.
