Default Doom games

Anyone think that the early Doom games were the best in the series? I think that Doom 1 and 2 had the best level designs out of any FPS games, even the more recent ones today.

I liked Doom, I still play it today occasionally. I do agree that the level designs in modern FPS games are pretty poor when compared to Doom's maps.

Nah, the best level designs come from 'free-radical' aka the old rare team who have made: Goldeneye ( the good one), Perfect Dark (best ever FPS) and Timesplitters 2/3 ( almost there)

When I got my first computer, Doom and Heretic(upgrade version of doom) is already installed in my computer and I was addicted playing until dawn. Though it really is creepy when you play it at night and all lights off and you feel like there's something at your back.

I played Heretic on a lights-off room at first. Later on I left it on :P

But Heretic was one of the best out there. I really didn't have the chance to play Doom, because at the time I tried it I already got too dizzy playing 3d first-person shooters (Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight II hehe)

I remember Doom being described as a "virtual mass-murder simulator" by a military man on a magazine.

Doom was fun while it lasted... but I felt playing those Command And Conquer games gave me better delight.

Doom 3 was the first game I had to cheat on to beat!! I hate to admit that because I really don't like using cheats at all, but some levels of that game were next to impossible for me.

I remember the old Doom on the 486
It was great back then. Scary scenes but the graphics were good, not over the top.
These days its all about the graphics and not the gameplay.
