Could someone please give me the dummies version of how MMORPG works. FF 12 is going to be an mmorpg and I've never played one before. I just really don't want to look like a complete newb when it comes out and I sign up. Some recommendations to easy online games to get started would also be appreciated.

I think the best way to explain an MMO is by saying it will become your second life. There are so many and most dont play the same so its kind of hard to explain how they work. But mostly its about playing with thousands of other people and exploreing a new world. And for someone new to the whole MMO thing, you should understand that many never end, they are always on going. You may also be wondering why they charge a monthly fee. It's because the developers add new content after the game is released so you always have something new to do.
To clear something up for you, Final Fantasy 12 will not be an MMORPG, you may be thinking of FF 11 which is an MMO. But for a good starting MMO I think Guild Wars or World of Warcraft would be a good place to start. Hope this helps. |

haha yep they do become your second life. Or first like to some addicts.
But, for normal people its fun. I recommend Ultima Online, for an easy game. Its cheap too, around $12/month.

I think you should try playing the free MMORPG first before planning to play the paid ones. Try the CONQUERONLINE.com game. Its absolutely free and the game is an MMORPG, though its not that 3D as the other MMORPG that have fees every month.
