PS3 cost?

How much do you think the Playstation 3 will cost? I have only heard the announcements that it "will not be cheap". Do you think that it will possibly fail due to being too costly?

The initial estimates on the console claim that it will cost somewhere near $600.

Though this might sound like a lot, the console will feature the Blu-ray player. All other Blu-ray players are expected to cost $1200... making the PS3 a 'bargain.'

Damn $600...I don't think I'll be able to afford that in awhile.

I'll just wait till the price goes down...remember the price falls when the demand goes up.

Wow, that really is a lot compared to the current generation system's cost. I am not in a hurry to buy a PS3 though, I will wait and see if any good games come out first, before rushing out to buy one.

I don't think anyone knows for sure how much it'll cost when it launches. People at CompUSA think it'll be $399, but as someone at Best Buy and they'll tell you $500. I think $600 is about the most people would be willing to pay for a new system, blu-ray or not.

If it is more than $500, it probably won't be good for sales, unless there are some REALLY great games at launch. Unfortunately, looking back at the PS2, there weren't that many great launch titles available then.

itwil probably only slow their sales down a little bit butnot too much. plus all the fanatics will buy it anyways even if its insanely expensive

I would wait for some decent launch titles before just rushing out to buy a PS3 right away.

I heard that the PS3 - at release - will cost around 700$ to produce, but they will sell it at a lower price and loose profit at first to intice people into the concept. But I believe the starting price for the PS3 will be quite big, somewhere at around 500$.

The PS3 cannot be more than 500 at launch. Over 500, and it will be way too expensive for most parents and mainstream users that make up the bulk of buyers.
