As I am sure many of you already know, Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire have both said they will not sign on for more Spider-Man movies after the third one. So if the studio still wants to make more movies, which it seems they do, who should they cast to replace these two?
I really don't know the answer to this...casting changes are never a good thing. I would have suggested Topher Grace but apparently he is Eddie Brock. Suggestions are welcome! |

Hmm, though this has been suggested (especially from Dunst) I do not remember hearing any confirmations on the fact that they would not return if there was another.
If they pay is right... flabbybuns |

Tobey Maguire looks great as spiderman. I can't think of anyone else who could replace him. And I agree, casting changes are never a good thing. So i hope he does more spidey movies.

Agreed, I also think the movie won't be as good with new actors. Though I never liked the Spiderman movies myself ![]() |

I thought I read somewhere that Tobey was signed on to appear in up to 6 films? Usually when they "may not return" it is usually translated as "I want more money."

In my opinion, he's just lobbying for more money.

What I'd like to see is a Spiderman movie without Peter Parker. Just Spiderman. All action. Never give him a chance to get out of the costume. Let the characterization and storyline come from other characters. I think the whole "curse of being a superhero" has been played out too much in almost every superhero movie. Boo hoo you have super powers, get to work!
It would be tough to negotiate a contract when your face isn't seen! Last edited by sizeten10 : 12-21-2006 at 10:38 PM. |

personally, i think the guy who plays peter petrelli on heroes would be a great replacement for him.
he dosn't really look that much like tobey, but i think he looks like a spider-man. a more mature spider-man. |

LOL! Yeah, it is hard. I heard they already have 4 set up. IMDB has Spider-Man 4 listed. If I've learned anything from the Batman movies, if a good character has to be replaced, don't keep making the movies the same old way, start new or in a completely different direction. |

This has actually happened before, I think right before Spider-Man 2. There were rumors that he wasn't coming back when it was pretty close to production and then all of a sudden there he is, probably with more cash in his pocket. Kind of a lame thing to do, but that's Hollywood.
However, Tobey did say that the third one "really felt like an ending" or something to that effect. Can't say I don't agree with him, though it's more cuz it was kind of disappointing. Man. What's going on with comic movies these days? Aside from Batman and 300, they're all just weak. |
