Default X-Men 3: Blog Transfer 6: Erinjoy Posts

Erinjoy had a boyfriend on set of X-Men 3, here were some other posts from her:

Oh, ok. I just thought of what I could tell you as of this moment. Tonight 2nd unit is shooting for 15hrs straight! They are doing a huge scene for the next couple weeks with approx. 100-150 stunt doubles who will be playing various mutants. This scene is officially called "fan boy's wet dream"

I'm back again. I just wanted to add that if you are living in Vancouver area and want to watch the filming being shot right now, this week and next week is the best time to see some exciting stuff. Water cannons going off, doubles being racheted from tons of wires...it's off of boundary and marine dr. in Burnaby. They're shooting nights, so you gotta be a night owl to enjoy. This is where the Alcatrez and Golden gate bridge scene will be shot.

About the Stunts

Well, so far the highlights for stunts have been archangel's 200ft swoop on wires (downtown Van), a bunch of racheted cars on bridge scene with the mutants flying off the bridge and a huge car rollover (somehow I know there was a semi involved in this scene also--this was in Aggasiz, BC).

Later this week, there are going to be about 50 stunt doubles as mutants and they are all racheted in different directions at the same time. They are on handpulled wires, meaning someone is at the other end pulling them all over the place!

Not too many injuries happened so far with the exception of one foolish stunt extra who stood in between the cars on the bridge scene while they were being racheted and got pinned by one and had to go to the hospital because it almost squished her to death! Another person got injured when he jumped through glass, but a few stitches and he was fine. The only other injury I know about is a guy who missed some mats covered with gravel to disguise them and ended up hitting the concrete and got a concusion. He's good now though.

Let's see...craziness of stunts? Well, I told you about what I've seen and heard of so far. Archangel's double was supposed to go into second unit today to do more high swoops with the wire (maybe not as high as the 200ft fall he did last time though), but they had a change of plans and decided to rehearse some beast stunts today with the stunt crew. The only thing I know for this week is that they are rehearsing a fight scene with Calisto and Storm. Storm has a new signature move in x3, so be prepared for her to actually move around more and be a more dynamic character than in the last 2 xmen movies.

Filming

Ok. So here's what I found out for today at least. They are shooting on camera a fight between Logan and Juggernut. Apparently they are doing what is called a cowboy switch in which they are going to shoot Hugh Jackman being racheted into the ceiling and then in the same shot, his stunt guy will fall back down to the ground. What's really cool though is that they are racheting all the furniture at the same time. Don't know the whole fight, but I'm guessing that maybe Juggernut pounds the floor and everything flies up and comes crashing back down to the ground. All of this is in the Jean Grey house. I really don't know too much about x-men. Is this the main mansion or is this actually Jean grey's house?

I haven't really let out any exciting news lately. Let's see...well, I can tell you a bit about the beast's "moves," so to speak. As I said before, Halle Berry/Storm is going to be doing a lot on wires and she has this sort of tazmanian devil spinning thing going on. She spins very fast and ends up in different places quickly. But beast...he does a few capoiera (sp?) moves (similar to break dancing), side rolls/pounces, and even reads a book with one of his legs crossed upside down. Most of the stunt doubles don't get to be on film for this movie because the majority of wire work is actually done by the actors/actresses, but for Kelsey Grammer? Heh...I think it is safe to say that he will be doing very little stunts, meaning, the beast's double gets a lot of time on camera. Not to mention, he gets Kelsey Grammer's face as a prosethic to put on underneath the costume too.
