received this X-Men 3: The Last Stand theory from 'tariq' today (April 1st) and thought it was at least worth a read:
source with connections to the production of X-Men: The Last Stand has revealed that one of the most hush-hush details about the film's story is its main villain. While Magneto and Dark Phoenix stir a lot up, they are both unwitting pawns of a much bigger figure lurking in the... well, we'll get to that part in a little bit once we reveal who that villain is. Before we get to the revelation, let's examine aspects of the film that have been revealed already. First, the primary plot is that of a 'cure' for mutancy. It brings both Beast and Angel into the picture, and supposedly will cause at least a few mutants (amongst them rumored to be Rogue and Mystique) to lose their powers. The film's trailer suggests that Leech - a mutant with the ability to negate other mutant powers - is the source for the cure. Mystique says, "The source of the cure is a mutant," when the trailer cuts to Callisto saying to Magneto, "More powerful than you." Since trailers are notorious for cutting things together that don't actually go together in the final film, however, it would seem that the highly powerful mutant to which Callisto refers is not Leech, but the film's bigwig baddie - although the significance of Leech goes beyond being the source of the cure to possibly being the means of the villain's undoing. ![]() As for Callisto and Leech, who are both Morlocks, a group of mutants who hide underground (like their H.G. Wells-namesakes) in the comics, it seems that many Morlocks join Magneto's army (huge indeed as depicted in the first trailer). It even appears that Spyke (from the animated "X-Men: Evolution") may debut! Arclight is a definite player in the film - although she is an enemy of the Morlocks in the comics, for she is a Marauder (no, the villain in question is not the Marauders' boss Mr. Sinister). With Multiple Man, Omega Red, Psylocke, and many other mutants set to appear, it seems rather odd that mutants would crawl out of the woodwork when something more devastating to them than the Legacy Virus has been developed. So, who then could cause so many to make themselves vulnerable? The answer is someone who would benefit from less competition. This same someone could also benefit from the death of Professor X, for he is the epitome of competition. And as the rumors have stated, Jean is the culprit behind the death of Xavier. Who could benefit from the death and also make Jean do it? In fact, who has the power to revive Jean since it will not be the Phoenix entity from the comics? (And indeed, in the trailer Xavier states "Something woke her," as if he is unsure how she could have been brought back.) While it has seemed that Storm's bigger role in this installment of the franchise was a political move to appease Halle Berry, in actuality that is only part of the reason. Storm is the only character aside from Xavier who has any history with this villain, who may be the root of her claustrophobia as well. This relationship may very well be why Storm herself is rumored to be killed as well. All these aspects point to the main villain; however, the secret had not been revealed before now simply because he does not appear outwardly until the climax of the film. It is only in the form of others that he may end up being seen, albeit far and few in-between. So who is this villain that can control the masses, turn a powerful psychic force (Jean Grey) on another (Xavier) and benefit from the demise thereof, as well as from the 'curing' of all other mutants? In the beginning I nearly resorted to a cliché, but I caught myself as I sat and wrote this article and cut myself off. Why? Simply because that particular choice of words would have revealed the villain's name! Now that I have taken you through the clues, I can complete the phrase: they are both unwitting pawns of a much bigger figure lurking in the SHADOWS! Supposedly, the first evidence of the villain will appear in a flashback Storm has during a claustrophobic panic. Though brief, fanboys may readily recognize the obese man sitting in a dingy watering hole. Others will have to wait until the so passionately protected Third Act of the film to learn who that obese man is - the Shadow King. With a powerful villain like that (and no word on Karma set to appear in the film), let's hope that Leech does take him out so that there will be more X-Men movies in the future! The awful shadow of some unseen Power Floats, tho' unseen, amongst us." - Kelsey Grammer as Beast, quoting Percy Bysshe Shelley *there is supposed talk of a 'surprise' character at the end of the film. which could mean anything. Notice the date the theory came? What day is April 1st? Is it false? Let's say yes. Last edited by flabbybuns : 04-02-2006 at 11:59 PM. Reason: added image |
