Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
For those of you who were willing to order a game
[Half-Life 2] through Steam that still has a release date set to
TBA [to be announced], you were lucky enough to be granted the option to
play Counter Strike: Source early. And, judging by the upgrades
up to the Half-Life 2 engine, the already existant CS [Counter
Strike] players couldn't be happier.
Only One Way Through Steam
However, the only way to get the new version of Counter Strike
early is through Stream. For those of you that have never heard of the PC
game Counter Strike which swept the nation by storm as a MOD for
the original Half Life, I would like to ask where the hell have you been!
Counter Strike is or, at least used to be, a strictly multiplayer game that
featured two sides: Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists who each have a mission
for each map. The different maps of the games either consist of a target
that the terrorists have to bomb or an area where counter-terrorist's must
recover the hostages. However, most people seem to favor the maps [DE_]
where the terrorists are the ones in charge of doing the bombing.
Some of the updates that will be experieced in the latest version of Counter
Strike is heavily improved maps [re-creations of the old ones], graphics,
performance, reactive environment, and life like bodies. When you shoot
and kill a person, you can expect to see some realistic rag doll effects
to boot.
For those who are willing to wait for the TBA Half-Life 2, you
can head over to GameSpot
and watch some gameplay footage of Counter Strike: Source. I don't
know if this will help your patience though. |
