The one, and maybe only, thing to blow up in a Bruckheimer film. I know,
I don't believe it either.
Thanks to AintItCool, there have been some early
reviews posted for both Alexander, starring Colin Ferrell, and
Bruckheimer's National Treasure, starring Nicolas Cage. Which film
you think got the raves and the lows?
Alexander Review Posted Online
While the two small reviews posted for Alexander are just first looks at
the film, they both say the movie sucks. The actual quote that can be used
from both reviews goes like this, 'this film is a mess.' Hmm, not 'this
film rocks,' or 'the battles are sweet'? Nope, it seems that this film will
be another Troy at the theatres. As a matter of fact, one of my favorite
quotes from the review was, compared to it [Alexander], "Troy"
is "Gladiator," and the 70's tv series "I, Claudius"
is looking better all the time. So you are saying it is good right?
Ah, I really wanted this film to be good and, judging by the trailers, it
looks like it would be good. Well, guess not.

Alexander is set for release on November 24th of this year
National Treasure Review Posted Online
Now this is a film that I thought was going to be a fifty-fifty, where it
could go either way. I do enjoy Bruckheimer films; even if they aren't that
good, they still have the ability to entertain [with explosions and crazy
action/stunts]. But hark, it seems that there will be only one explosion
in National Treasure. Is Bruckheimer mixing up his golden-rule
formula? I don't know what's going on, but it seems to have worked. According
to the reviews coming out from the film, the movie is pretty good. One of
the reviews even claims that the film is under-marketed and not hyped enough.
That is a pretty good compliment for any film.
My haven't-seen-the-film-yet review: you got Bruckheimer, you got Cage,
and you get some major bonus points with Sean Bean... Good Film. If that
isn't enough for you, head over to AintItCool
to read the entire early review.
National Treasure will be hitting theatres later this week, as
it is set for release on November 19, 2004 |
