If you remember in a recent article by CanMag.Com,
Steven Kloves was not going to be writing the screenplay for the fifth Harry
Potter, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Now, it
seems that there will be other big changes for this film as well.
New Director for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
We have seen Chris Columbus, we have seen Alfonso Cuarón, and we
will be seeing Mike Newell's directing in Harry Potter and the Goblet
of Fire. Well, it seems that no director, besided Columbus on the first
two films, will be doing multiple Potter films. According to Variety,
David Yates has been asked to hop on board as director for Harry Potter
and the Order of the Phoenix. Who is David Yates you ask? Well I have
not seen any of his work and can continue to say that his film portfolio
is not that impressive. Or, at least not impressive enough to be counted
on to adapt a Potter book to film [a daunting task considering
the fan base]. So, a considerable risk for Warner Bros. again, who took
their first chance with the switch of director to Alfonso Cuarón
who had a portfolio that included the very adult film Y tu mamá
también (2001). However, Cuarón was also credited with
the hit A Little Princess [a shout out to Taylor Fry who played
Lavinia in the film].
