Mere minutes after The Family Guy returns
to FOX, I am pleased and amazed. The show was funny and original and offensive,
just like we like.
Seth McFarlane has delivered. I admit I had my doubts but...
Family Guy is Back... Really
Instead of simply catering to old fans (although
there was some of that, e.g. old man at the dance), The Family Guy
gave devoted fans and newcomers the great humor that made us fall in love
six years ago.
Humor must be surprising to be funny (which is why every gross-out humor
movie after Dumb and Dumber failed). Seth McFarlane surprised us
once again.
First, the comedy in the brand-new The Family Guy made us laugh
both because we were tickled by the nonsense and surprised by the cutting-edge
humor. Instead if merely telling fellow TV-watchers "that was funny," I
caught myself laughing out loud.
Next, I am surprised that I did laugh. The show could have disappointed three-season DVD holders with boring repetition, but it didn't. Thank you liberal media.
