George Lucas and McCallum talk Star Wars television.
With Star
Wars Revenge of the Sith about to hit movie theatres in
just over a week, it is time for George Lucas and Rick McCallum to look
past May 19th and think about the upcoming Star Wars television
series. So, what do they have planned?
Star Wars Television Details
Thanks to a report from The Daily Telegraph, re-posted by ComingSoon,
we have received a couple added details about the upcoming live-action Star
Wars television series. Such as what helped them decide the time period,
and why 100 episodes [yes, 100 episodes seems to be true]? Remember, the
live-action television series will NOT feature any of the main Star
Wars characters [should we expect cameos?], and will take place between
Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. On that note, here
is a little of what Lucas and McCallum had to say:
McCallum
[The Star Wars series] is as definite as definite can be. It's a definite that we do it - the rest we haven't discussed on any level.
George is thinking maybe we can do a series somewhere between Episode III and IV because that's the longest break [in the film series], 20 years. The Death Star takes 20 years to build, so we need to work that out.
So this means we may get to meet some of the innocent
builders, plumbers, and electricians that died with the first Death Star.
The Rebellion may have had proper cause, but how many innocents were on
that baby? It was the size of a small moon... so there must have been at
least a couple hundred-thousand innocents onboard. Ever think about that?
Nah, but I still don't know about not using any of the main Star Wars
characters. The series has to offer us some familiarity, something that
may go amiss without any of the common faces.
Anyway, you can read the even more detailed post at ComingSoon.
