I don't know how many of you were able to catch
both the season finales for Fox's American Idol and ABC's LOST
last night, but I have to give a shout out to DTR television for the ability
to easily record two shows at once. So, how did each finale add up?
American Idol Finale
I hate to admit it, but the season finale for American
Idol was pretty entertaining; and I'm not talking about the winner
announcement either. They offered funny video, paradies, and special invites
that had me laughing out loud. They also invite back some of the 'funniest'
of the contestants with special guest appearances.
What we ended up watching on FOX was a comedic bash that did everything
from give a David Hasselhoff fan his day to allow some contestant butcher
the US national anthem. Good times! I also have to give props to Simon,
Paula, and Randy for their ability to pull off comedic performances in clip
parodies about themselves; I am still wondering how they got Simon to talk
to himself in the mirror.
If you are an Idol fan and were unable to catch the season finale,
you better hope for a repeat or that one of your friends has the show still
recorded.
LOST Season Finale
The season finale for ABC's hit television series LOST was also
a nice treat. For the two-hour episode, the show was willing to give away
a few minor secrets while also keeping a lot of new info still held in a
underground latch somewhere. Another surprise was that the show decided
to keep moving forward with the story as if another episode would be coming
next week [how long do we have to wait?]. So, while some questions have
been answered, a ton more questions are just beginning. Damn you Abrams!
So, what is left to find out? Just about everything. We still do not know
what that island is really about, or whether or not my purgatory theory
is true or not [read
here]. However, every piece of dialogue in the latest episodes
have supported my purgatory theory making me even more resolved with my
solution. Also, what the hell was that black shadow-looking spirit that
pops out of the ground and pulls Locke away? I guess we will have to wait
till next season to find the answers to that one.
One of the coolest aspects to the LOST season finale is that it
ends by cutting back to how all the passengers wound up on the same flight
with one another. It shows that at one time or another each character had
looked at the other, showing recognition but nothing more. I actually felt
this ending would have been better suited for the series finale [whenever
that comes], as it brings us right back to the beginning.
On the other hand, how could I even try to complain about such a damn cool television show.
Stay tuned for updates and the deleted scene taken from the LOST
season finale.
