One major turn in entertainment is the boost in quality television. With so many well-written series out there it has become difficult for networks to find a non-competitive slot.
Spotting this trend, Entertainment Weekly recently listed the Top Ten television Dramas you should be watching. Though we agree with them, our priorities are a bit different.
Popular Television Shows
As most would have expected, the Fox television series 24 was listed as the number one most wanted show by EW. Here is the entire list below:
1. 24
2. The Sopranos
3. CSI
4. Battlestar Galactica
5. Lost
6. Everwood
7. Gilmore Girls
8. Law & Order
9. Veronica Mars
10. The Shield
Sure, there was some surprises in there and I bet the Lifetime crowd was rooting for Murder She Wrote; but there it is.
One of my major complaints is listing ABC's LOST at number five; what! I know CSI has its thrills-- I watch the show -- but it does not compare to the happenings over on that mysterious island. I would slide LOST into spot #3 or even spot #2 if Sopranos doesn't pick up in the next couple of episodes.
Though I was disappointed with that call, EW has somewhat redeemed themselves by listing South Park in the top 5 comedy shows.
However, I am still not sure about the Top Four talk shows list.
The Daily Show-- great call, Late Night with Conan O'Brien-- he is the best of them, The Late Show with David Letterman-- what?
I understand the guy has had a boost in Bush-hating viewers due to his political commentary, but is he really better to watch than Leno?
Interesting. You can check out all the 'Top Lists' over at Entertainment Weekly.
