South Park- Trapped in a Closet
Great news for all the South Park fans out there. The classic episode where Tom Cruise, John Travolta and R. Kelly all end up in the closet will be making a glorious return to Comedy Central's lineup of South Park.
"Tom, nobody cares... come out of the closet."
South Park is Trapped in the Closet
According to Variety, has scheduled a July 19 airdate of the popular South Park episode "Trapped in the Closet." The episode, which many have called too vicious, makes fun of Travolta, R. Kelly, Cruise and scientology.
Back in May Comedy Central yanked the episode from the South Park rotation when Tom Cruise began to complain about it during his M:i:III tour. Now that the episode has been nominated for an Emmy, however, Comedy Central is looking to repair its friendship with show creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone by bringing it back. Stone and Parker were both angry at the network for its move to pull the episode.
"It's true we are not as big as Tom Cruise, but we've done two movies for Viacom and 10 years of 'South Park' episodes, and this has been our home," Stone said. "If they hadn't put this episode back on the air, we'd have had serious issues, and we wouldn't be doing anything else with them."
Stone and Parker have had constant entanglements with Comedy Central with their last argument on Muhammad. In the episode "Super Best Friends" we see a fully drawn Muhammad as he joins up with Christ and other religious leaders to put an end to David Blaine. Stone had planned on the return of Muhammad in other episodes but the recent riots by Muslims over an animated prophet caused Comedy Central to say no. The duo brought the character back anyway in "Cartoon Wars" and the network immediately blanked Muhammad out.
Though the strife between Comedy Central and the South Park duo, the move to bring "Trapped in the Closet" back does show a sign of faith.
