If you think Medium is just a cool sci-fi mystery show, the Complete First Season DVD will try to prove to you that it’s all for real. With two featurettes devoted to the real life Allison Dubois, even I was convinced.

Medium DVD Review

“Interpreting Allison Dubois” is more about Patricia Arquette’s portrayal of her, pointing out the differences between the show’s version of Dubois and the real Dubois. The real Dubois is just as hot as Arquette, but her visions are a little more complicated and less visual. Then it goes on about the actor’s process in a kind of standard love fest.

But “The Real Allison Dubois” really asks you to buy into it. It doesn’t even attempt to convince, it just presents her as the real deal. The visions she describes don’t sound scary. They’re just a part of her life. They’re very specific too, so she’s either a real portal or totally delusional. But she predicts some things that don’t sound crazy, and her stories have such profound payoffs that it’s hard to remain cynical.

Stay tuned for updates.
