Amazing Stories The Complete First Season DVD Review
The footage is high quality. It looks like a real film work print, jumping from the old school cuts, but it’s clear and colorful, not like a rough print. Some of these scenes seem really significant. I don’t remember all the episodes at this point, but they’re meaty. Like how did the episodes make sense without these scenes?
Guilt (Dom Deluise) has fun with a sun tanner, Ben makes an emotional plea to Dorothy that must be an extended scene rather than a complete deletion, a pseudo sermon, more remote control antics with primitive effects, Harvey Keitel and Beau Bridges talking about art and love.
Too bad there’s no commentary because there were some A list directors. Just getting the rights must have been a nightmare. Spotting celebs in the episodes is the most fun.
