It turns out that the cast in HBO's Lucky Louie aren't so lucky. After struggling through their first season, the network has decided not to renew the experimental comedy for a second go.
Lucky Louie Cancelled
According to THR,
HBO has opted not to renew its first multi-camera sitcom Lucky Louie for a second season.
Starring Louis C.K., the show's racy humor only had me laughing out loud at times. Though the white trash concept, the family's poverty level, or the very-adult humor could have been the show's downfall, some may argue that the series' seemingly low-budget cinematography was the final icing on the cake.
"Louie is an incredible talent and a wonderful partner," said HBO Entertainment president Carolyn Strauss. "We loved trying our first multi-camera show with him, and we look forward to other projects with Louie in the feature."
HBO has found repeat success with single-camera comedy series including Sex in the City, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Entourage. Because of this history, and the failure of Lucky Louie, HBO has recently returned to what they know by giving the greenlight to Flight of the Conchords and Whitney.
