With the boosted ratings and the latest issue of
EW, it is now no secret that Heroes is the hottest show
of fall 2006. The viewership continues to grow from week to week as NBC
and crew work to deliver a story that not only spends time on the characters,
but is sure to continue on at an athletic pace. No more full seasons just
to discover what a hatch is, Heroes offers new plot details --
in the form of a 'twist' -- by the end of every show.
NBC, like ABC for LOST, claims November will feature the best episodes
to date for Heroes. So, what can we expect?
Heroes In November
The latest issue of Entertainment
Weekly ran a segment on the growing popularity of Heroes
and why the show was the next television phenomenon. By the end of the report,
however, the article digresses on some spoiler-ish information on what we
can expect from the show's November episodes.
The episodes are headlined by the ''save the
cheerleader'' story line, which culminates at Claire's homecoming dance
on Nov. 20. It won't involve all of the series' scattered heroes, though;
Kring says they won't team up until the season's final episodes. However
homecoming turns out, it appears that Claire will soon hang up her pom-poms.
''Cheerleading [and] high school get left behind,'' reveals Panettiere.
''Claire has to make a transition to a new life.'' Sweeps will bring more
drama for Nathan as well: Rena Sofer joins as his wife on Nov. 6, when viewers
will learn a surprising secret that sheds light on Nathan's dalliance with
Niki.
On another crucial front, genetics professor Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy),
one of the few characters with no superpowers — at least, not yet
— makes some surprising discoveries about his murdered father's research
into the mutant world and the helix-shaped symbol that keeps popping up.
He's heading home to India, which means that Ramamurthy will finally shoot
a scene outside the shadowy, clue-cluttered apartment belonging to Suresh's
dead dad. Psyched? ''Like you wouldn't believe,'' says Ramamurthy with a
laugh. ''I kept saying, 'I'm gonna die in this apartment and nobody's gonna
know, because clearly I never leave.'''
The first half of Heroes' season comes to a
close on Dec. 4 (new episodes return in January), and by then, viewers will
have learned how most of the characters discovered their superpowers, along
with Sylar's identity. (Hint: The Scrabble value of the actor's name exceeds
10 points.) Everyone involved is predictably tight-lipped, though Pasdar
does offer this teaser: ''Things get fairly dark in terms of who I might
be. It's an amazing ending.''
Though ratings are still up, I found that last
episode's final 'twist' was the weakest to date. NBC, however, does seem
to have a lot in store for us in this Monday's episode. I, for one, am hoping
we get a lot less of Niki Sanders (Ali Larter), as her character, though
sexy, wasn't going anywhere. If this show was on HBO we would at least of
seen a boob by now and, if that was the case, I'd be more than happy to
keep her on.
Could we please get Mohinder Suresh laid as well? The guy, surrounded by
tons of cool shit, is still so uptight. I don't care if the mouse-looking-but-cute
girl is a mole, let him hit it!
Heroes airs at 9PM on Monday nights on NBC.
Stay tuned for updates.
