Survivor 13- Episode 8 Survivor- Episode 8

With twelve survivors remaining and the merge looming, there are two huge surprises in this week’s Survivor.

Survivor Cook Islands Rundown #8

The episode opens with Jonathan talking – for you M*A*S*H fans out there – how much does he sound like Alan Alda? Oh the strategizing at Aitu; Jonathan, Becky, Yul, Sundra, Candice and Ozzy are doing a recheck. Candice has decided she doesn’t want to stick with this group after the merge. She wants to work her way back to Pavarti and Adam. Does she think she and Adam can be the next Amber and Boston Rob? Pan to a scenic moment there is a spectacular rainbow over the ocean. Jonathan is pressing Candice for “four Caucasians in the final”. Now, now, now, I was hoping this race thing was finally dead.

At Raro, Brad comments if the merge were to happen now with the tribes at 6 each it would be every man for himself. Nate is incensed. He is mad enough Brad didn’t swim last week (episode 7); now with a comment like that how can you trust the guy. The other tribe members were all shocked he would say that.

Now for the first surprise. Jeff tells the tribes he is offering ‘mutiny’. They have ten seconds to decide if they would like to switch tribes. Holy buffs Batman! With the countdown at 3 seconds left Candice steps forward, followed by Jonathan a second later. Is this the blind leading the blind or stupid is as stupid does? I know they think they are helping themselves getting back with Adam and Parvati, but this is not the way to do it people. This leaves Aitu with only four members and they are pissed.

The reward challenge is two of the tribe’s members being rolled inside a barrel and the two members that are rolling them retrieve buoys along the way. Once they have four buoys they are clipped to the outside of the barrel so it will float. They then dive for four flags. After all flags are hung they dig for an ax to cut the rope and raise their tribe flag making them the winner. Let’s remember Aitu is angry and for whatever reason Nate and Adam often have trouble with the challenges. There was no contest Aitu won the challenge and immediately sent Candice to Exile Island. Ozzy states “Mutineers are the first people to die man”. The reward is a coffee and pastries party with letters from home. They don dry robes while enjoying their reward. There are pictures, letters and tears.

Jonathan is trying too hard to make friends at Raro. Nate feels Jonathan should be the first to go after he sold out his old tribe so easily. Jonathan is trying to convince Adam to take the remainder of their “original tribe” (he didn’t say Caucasian this time) to the final four.

At the immunity challenge each tribe has glass bottom boats to look through for targets. When a cannon ball is dropped correctly into the target it releases a pair of buoys. Raro starts out superbly and easily has the first two pairs of buoys. Aitu keeps missing the targets until Yul figures out a better way to hit the target and it is now tied at two. Raro is missing and Jeff says they are wasting cannon balls. Jonathan snaps back “Jeff Please”. Aitu is first back to shore with their buoys there is a clue on one buoy and letters on the rest. The clue is what ship had a famous mutiny? The answer is of course Bounty. Aitu wins immunity. They smoked Raro in both challenges. Don’t make these people mad. They may never loose again.

Raro with eight members must go to tribal council. Jonathan is working hard around camp hoping his contribution value will save him. They decide perhaps Brad should go so after the merge he couldn’t reunite with Becky and Yul. Candice tells Adam Jonathan was trash talking him. Adam notes they had all better “play smart the game’s not over”.

At tribal council Candice says Raro is much more fun than Aitu. Jeff wants to know if she is concerned she is perceived as a strong competitor. It is noted Jonathan tries to be a leader. Just as Brad says he doesn’t trust the tribe, we see out little scurrying rat friends again. You know what that means. Brad is toast and is unanimously voted out. But as Jeff says “The ninth person voted out of Survivor and the first member of our jury is Brad”. JURY – wait the jury isn’t usually formed until after the merge (normally at 10 remaining survivors) and from number 9 on! Surprise, surprise, surprise! I love this game!

Will Candice and Adam’s ‘showmance’ be rekindled and will it bring their ultimate demise? Will we see the much anticipated merge? Will there be more surprises? Who will Outwit-Outplay-Outlast?

Stay tuned as the survivors try their best to Outwit-Outplay-Outlast.

Missed old rundowns? Check out 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.
