Moon Bloodgood and Taye Diggs in Day Break
Taye Diggs springs into action as the hero of Day Break. He plays a cop framed by a government conspiracy, who has to prevent his wife’s death. Problem is, this already happened. He just keeps reliving the day, trying to get it right. Diggs has gotten physical before, but this is his first full on action hero.
Diggs Talks Day Break Action
“Nothing this deep,” Diggs compared. “Nothing to this extreme. I’ve done a couple of movies where I kind of got to shoot a gun but still be smooth, still be handsome and kind of charming. But I get to, at least I’m going to try, to let all that go with this character, as much as I can.”
As the lead of the show, Diggs is going to have to be in almost every scene. After shooting the pilot, he was confident. “I’ve only done one and I got through that one all right. I’m assuming it’s going to be quite a challenge and I’m up for it. I’m taking all my vitamins, making sure I’m in shape, taking my supplements and things of that nature trying to get myself mentally prepared. But you know, I’m an actor. This is what I do. I enjoy this. When we’re not working, we’re always wondering when the next job is going to come, so I’m cherishing these moments.”
Diggs will truly be a man of action, because TV production won’t allow much overthinking. “As an actor, your trained to do a certain amount of backstory and this series specifically, dare I say there’s not much time for backstory only because there’s so much to deal with on the page. I think that a lot of times, an acting coach told me once a long time ago, only do backstory if you think it will help, or else you’ll just be working for nothing. In a situation like this, I feel like a lucky actor in that I don’t need to do much about it because it’s all jam packed on the pages of this script.”
Day Break airs Wednesday at 9PM on ABC.
