My Name Is Earl DVD My Name Is Earl
Any TV show that goes to the trouble of scripting and filming a bonus episode for the DVD is dedicated to the fans. Even though 15 minutes is not an episode, it’s a skit, it’s still a thoughtful addition. Unfortunately, the alternate pilot for My Name is Earl is just uncomfortable.

DVD Review: My Name Is Earl

It opens with a meaningless intro by Jason Lee. There’s no joke in it, he’s just saying there’s an alternate pilot. Was this to stretch for time? Just tell us you shot a fake alternate pilot and move on.
This so-called alternate pilot shows Earl not learning his lesson from Karma and instead becoming even meaner. The problem is, mean is not funny, at least not when trying to milk the same innocent philosophical tone.

Some extended Family Guy plugs are just blatantly awful, and even though they twist some of the recurring gags with their negative counterparts, it’s just not funny. Thanks for trying, guys, but stick to good karma.

Stay tuned for updates.
