I don't know how many of you were able to see The
Simpsons last Sunday, but whooie, you may have missed one of the most
controversial animated shows to date. After the show finished its air on
Fox, the complaints started flying.
Simpsons Approach Gay Marriage
On the last Simpsons episode, the story attacks the ban on gay
marriage. Homer Simpson performs gay marriages for men and women looking
to wed. To top it off, it turns out that Marge's sister, Patty, is a lesbian
and was featured in the show with a girlfriend.
So, yes, some people were pissed. One example is Brent Bozell III, the president
of the Parents Television Council. He went forth and stated, ''At a time
when the public mood is overwhelmingly against gay marriage, any show that
promotes gay marriage is deliberately bucking the public mood."
I'm sorry, but that is ridiculous. The Simpsons episode was very
entertaining, as it used a Mark Twain style satire to allow kids and adults
to laugh at the bans placed on gay marriage. What is to be mad about? You
don't like what you see?.. change the channel!
