For those of you wondering if holding out for Sony's PlayStation 3 with its Blu-Ray technology is worth it, you may want to have a look at the latest console comparison. Taking both Microsoft's Xbox 360 and the PS3, the stats between the two is closer than you'd think.
Playstation 3 vs Xbox 360
I was one of those who found the Xbox to be leagues above PS2 when it came to gameplay and visuals. Add the fact that Xbox had Halo and it was a no-brainer on which console was the better option. Sure, the Playstation consoles have always come packed with more games. But what does that matter when a majority of the games are shit and mostly for filler?
Coming this holiday the battle between consoles is going to happen again and, though PS3 supposedly had the upper hand, the specs on the gaming systems are close; too close considering the year difference in release.
We initially gave the PS3 kudos for the console's ability to display video in 1080P, but it now looks like that option has been thrown out.
So, what do we know about the similarities and differences between the two competing consoles? A lot thanks to the recent comparison report put up by Yahoo.
According to Yahoo!, the price for PlayStation 3 is still set at $599. You can buy a cheaper version fro $499, but what is another $100 at this point? The PS3's Blu-Ray was first considered the primary advantage of owning it instead of the Xbox 360. Microsoft, however, is currently working on an upgrade for the Xbox 360 that will allow users to upgrade their systems with an HD-DVD player. Though HD-DVD doesn't have nearly the capacity of Blu-Ray, the difference in visuals shouldn't be noticeable. The cost of the HD-DVD add-on will bring the total cost of the Xbox 360 somewhere near that of PS3; so stop thinking about price.
