Counter Strike-- The Movie?

A shot from Counter Strike
Here is a return to the idea of a Counter Strike
film. Well, according to BBspot,
the director from the POS Alone in the Dark, Uwe Boll, will be taking the
helm and righting up a screenplay for an adaptation of one of the best mod
games to come to PC EVER.
Counter Stike the Movie
Here is a little snippet of BBspot says about the current state of a Counter
Strike adaptation:
At the helm of the picture will be German filmmaker
Uwe Boll. Currently, the king of game-to-movie conversions is taking time
off from producing Bloodrayne and Hunter:The Reckoning to work on the script.
"When I picked up the project, I sat down and played the game to get in
touch with its soul," the director explained. "Trust me, this is going to
be the most honest, true conversion ever. Everything you love about the
game will be in there. The action, the group dynamics, the excitement."
Boll continued, "I want to guarantee the fans of the game that there will
absolutely, positively be no campers in the movie. Ok, one guy will be really
defensive, but that's because it's his job, not because he's camping."
When I first heard about the idea of adapting the game I was sure that the
idea would be thrown out. To adapt a game such as Counter Strike to the
screen would be extremely hard to do, no matter how popular the game. Some
of the reasons include:
It is a mod game that revolves around head-to-head play, and that is
it.
There is no story. One team, the terrorists, must either plant a bomb
or defend hostages while the other team, the counter terrorists, try to
protect bombsites and rescue hostages.
The film has nothing to really pull from. I already mentioned that there
is no 'adaptable' story, the only thing that could be taken from the game
is the sets and maybe the weapons.
But back to the point, it would be incredible for them to create an adaptation
for this game [at least a good adaptation]. So, is this report BOGUS? It
seems so! [more below]
Gamespot Shouts Bogus
Gamespot wrote a recent article on whether the adaptation with Boll at the
helm was anything to take seriously. They first contacted Valve, who has
rights to the game, and the response from Doug Lombardi came in one simple
word: FALSE. Gamespot acknowledges this and puts in their
own two words. Here is a little of what they said:
This week, the game-news underground was bubbling with word that (in)famous filmmaker Boll had landed the movie rights to another premium game franchise. Actually "word" might be a bit mild. "Outrage" would be more appropriate, since Boll has a history of turning respected game franchises into universally panned movie projects. Following his critically eviscerated House of the Dead, Boll directed Alone in the Dark, which is based on the 13-year-old horror-action franchise. Released this week to scalding reviews, Dark hardly bodes well for Boll's upcoming adaptations of Far Cry, Hunter: The Reckoning, and BloodRayne (which is currently in postproduction). In fact, the New York Times called Dark "so inept on every level, you wonder why the distributor didn't release it straight to video, or better, toss it directly into the trash." With Boll's track record, it's easy to see why Counter-Strike's wide and rabid fan base would be less than thrilled to have the director-producer land the Valve franchise...
Now, I am not necessarily saying that I would be against the Counter Strike
film adaptation, but it would take a load of talent to make a successful
film out of this highly popular mod game. Want more of the article? Head
