With EA's recent announcement that it has acquired the exclusive rights to the NFL and NCAA Football licenses many wonder if EA will still make an effort to improve upon Madden 2006. Well those people can rest easy, EA seems determined to keep improving on an already great game and the lack of competition will not keep them from coming out with an A-list game. IGN.com recently released new photos and details on Madden 2006 and NCAA Football 2006 and both look to blow away their near flawless predecessors.
Last years game was as close to a perfect football simulation as possible and 06 only looks to get better. This year EA has listened to the fans gripes about certain issues (hopefully this includes fielding punts which was my biggest problem with the game), made some improvements to the AI as well as a few new features. The biggest change EA Tiburon made is retooling the passing game. Now a QB's awareness is a major factor in the game.
This "QB vision" will emphasize a more realistic feel of the passing game. With previous years, QB's would only look at the primary target at the moment he threw. Now when a QB goes back to pass you can actually see a small lit cone displaying the QB's vision. A QB with a high awareness will have a larger cone of vision on the field which allows the QB to make more accurate throws to more receivers. The QB with the lower awareness on the other hand has a harder time passing to receivers outside his small field of vision. Defenses will also see the vision cone which will make it harder to complete passes before the defense reacts.

One of the deepest college football games ever just got deeper. Building off the success of last years game EA Tiburon has added one key feature that will really put you in the middle of the college football experience. The new "Race for the Heisman" differs from the regular game by putting you in control of the player and not the team. You start out as a high school recruit and go through a series of drills in front of college scouts in order to get recruited to a big program. Succeed and it's off to a Division 1 powerhouse; fail and it's off to some no name university and zero media attention. As your career pans out you have to put up the necessary numbers, awards and media coverage necessary to get you mentioned for the Heisman.
Look for these games to be released towards the end of August and look for more information on additional features to be released during E3.
