'Hot Damn! That was close.'
Just before calling it a night I got word of two
new detailed reviews of Star
Wars Revenge of the Sith, both of which can give you reasons
on why you may love or dislike the final installment.
Revenge of the Sith Movie Reviews
I was considering not posting any more Star
Wars Revenge of the Sith review abstracts, but I have been getting
a great response from readers because of them. Heck, if we post many more
we will become the 'RottenTomatoes' of Revenge of the Sith. As
usual, both reviews give praise to the film. However, I am trying to find
some reviews that dislike the film, to help give an overall opinion.
These two reviews from AICN [this is their third] and TheForce.Net [bias?]
are great because they offer both sides [good and bad] to why you may like
or dislike Revenge of the Sith. On that note, onto the reviews:
AICN
Film Fan
...but what this film does well is humanize one of the great screen villains of all time, somehow managing to do so without robbing him of any of his menace in later films. If anything, I think the effect this is going to have on viewers who have grown up with this trilogy is going to be deeply unsettling. They’re going to be hit hard by Anakin’s fall, and it will change the way they view the original trilogy. If that’s not the ultimate sign of success for this film, then I don’t know what is.
Star Wars Fan
...it’s incredibly emotional, and I could barely sit still. I’ve said before that expectation can be the worst thing for a film fan because it can set you up for disappointment if something doesn’t live up to the image you have in your mind. Thankfully, the last forty minutes or so of this film actually exceed the expectations I had when the film began.

What to Like
The lightsaber battles are second to none, and there are plenty of them to go around. Obi-Wan vs. Grievous was great, even if the droid general did lose his extra hands a bit fast. The Duel is amazing, plenty of action with between former friends and interaction with the environment as well. You’ll finally get to see the Emperor take out Jedi, feign his own weakness to lure Anakin in to help and then fully unleash hell on Yoda. I love.
What to Dislike
Natalie Portman isn’t brilliant in this film. She just can’t seem to pull off her character. I have to say though her funeral scene is done perfectly, and the Jappor snippet actually got to me. C-3PO is basically non-existent, he even gives a “helpless” line and that’s exactly how I felt about his character. Where is Jar Jar? You see him maybe twice, and except for background noise he doesn’t even have a single line.
The Kashyyyk battle is way too short. If you saw all of the trailers and the Episode III footage that Rick McCallum showed at the Celebration then unfortunately you’ve seen much of it. It was so stunning; too bad we didn’t see more of it. And the Jedi swinging on wires with lightsabers? It is a 2 second clip.
Both of these reviews give final conclusions for Star
Wars Revenge of the Sith, so be sure to check them both out for a full reading.
