Unleashed Review
Hey gang, I just got back from viewing the Luc
Besson film Unleashed
and have a quick review for all of you. This review is meant for the people
that are considering seeing this film tonight, and I will also have a full
review up shortly.
Unleashed Review
In short, go see this movie. If you liked The
Professional [aka Leon], you will also like Unleashed.
Actually, I had predicted that the two films would be very similar and I
now know that this is true. However, instead of guns, there are lots of
punches and kicks flying in the Jet Li / Morgan Freeman film.
Everything about Unleashed was done wonderfully. The fight scenes
are crisp, the acting [including Jet Li] is excellent, and the story is
great. One thing I love about Luc Besson is he knows how to control the
emotion of a film; even in an action film. But make no mistake, Unleashed
was not created just to show off Jet Li's fighting abilities. Except for
the first and last act, the movie is entirely about family, coming of age,
and ultimate redemption.
Now, for those of you out there who like action I will say this: When the
fight scenes do happen they are as beautiful as they are brutal. There is
just something so gritty and real about every fight sequence that I felt
myself tensing in my chair.
In the end, Unleashed is a solid film.
Luc Besson didn't try to create something mind blowing nor something like
Revenge of the Sith.
Instead, he chose a unique, yet simple, story that combines action, love,
and music flawlessly-- and that really is something.
I am going to give Unleashed 9 or 8 out of 10 cans. The only reason
it may get an eight is I had a small little issue with the end of the final
action sequence. However, I think I can easily let it go [it's not a silly
fight movie either].
