So have the millions of Tarantino/Rodriguez fans
jumped up in the air at the excitement of this announcement? According to
Eonline, Tarantino
and Rodriguez are set to team up for the Horror film Grind House which will
be released sometime next spring.
Tarantino and Rodriguez take Grind House
Each director will write and direct a 60 minute
story that will interconnect with each other. Grind House is the
first film to be announced under Bob and Harvey Weinstein's new production
company which they started after deciding to leave Miramax/Disney earlier
this year.
In a statement the Weinstein's said, "We have said all along that we would hit the ground running and we are confident that this slate will represent and deliver the kinds of movies that audiences will love." This can only mean good news for film loves everywhere that the Weinstein's are committed to making cult films like this.
This isn't the first time Rodriguez and Tarantino have worked together.
Tarantino had a guest spot in Rodriguez's Desperado and the two
collaborated with two other directors for Four Rooms. The two then
worked together on their homage to B-horror films with From Dusk Till
Dawn (Tarantino wrote and acted, Rodriguez directed) and recently
Rodriguez wrote a song for the Kill Bill Soundtrack and Tarantino
directed one scene in Sin City after losing a bet to Rodriguez.
Let's just hope that Tarantino's attention isn't distracted (we're still
waiting on Inglorious Bastards, his possible Pulp Fiction
spin off on Travolta's character Vincent and of course his Kill Bill
anime he was planning) and gets this done in time to be released next spring.
Rodriguez shouldn't have a problem with this as he's known for getting films
done fast and efficient.
No word as to who or if anyone's been cast yet, but look for more news in the coming months as we get closer to September and the Weinstein's freedom from Miramax/Disney.
