After Matthew Vaughn dropped off of X-Men
3 20th Century Fox had to put it into high gear towards
finding a new director quickly. Well, if you read our latest X-Men 3
article here, it was hinted
that Brett Ratner was one of the remaining possibilities for the film. Well,
according to the latest, Brett Ratner is the new director of X-Men 3.
Ratner Directing X-Men 3
Bryan Singer had to leave the X-Men films
to pursue Superman
Returns [under Warner Bros, not 20th Century], leaving
a huge void that needed to be filmed. When Matthew Vaughn was picked up
for X-Men 3 the fans were pleased. Vaughn, though a newcomer to
the X-Men films, worked hard to get a polished script, convince
20th Century Fox of certain characters, and talk characters into coming
back. Just when everything seemed right on track, Vaughn announced that
he did not want to leave his family for the extended periods required to
create another X-Men movie. So that was director number two down.
Then in a chance of luck, one of the other director options at the beginning
of this whole mess popped up on the radar again.
Brett Ratner had been considered right after Bryan
Singer went to Warner Bros, but the guy was going to be way too busy working
on another Rush Hour movie with Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker set
to come back. However, it seems that Tucker was more than happy with his
financial situation and did not feel the huge pay for Rush Hour 3
was worth him returning for another round. And, if Tucker bows out, it was
sure to be that Chan would bow out too.
The Rush Hour 3 project collapsed on itself about two weeks ago,
opening up Brett Ratner again to the possibility of directing X-Men
3. And now we have him-- Brett Ratner will direct X-Men 3;
or, at least he is the director at this current moment in time.
