If you were able to stay up late last night, then
you might have been able to catch Tom Cruise on the Tonight Show with Jay
Leno. On the show, Cruise talks about War
of the Worlds among other things.
War of the Worlds on Leno
During a visit to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,
Tom Cruise was able to discuss War of the Worlds and, of course,
his new little girlfriend Katie Holmes. It turns out that Jay Leno has already
seen War of the Worlds and claims that the film is terrific. Leno
tried to get the lately-awkwardly-acting Cruise to get all crazy about Holmes
but, fortunately, Cruise was able to control himself for the most part.
There is a clip online of the interview and the War of the Worlds clip shown
on Leno, but before we get into that I want to jump on the Cruise/Holmes
situation real quick. I first thought that this relationship was setup and
a complete publicity stunt for the two actors who both have huge films coming
out this month. However, Cruise does all the talking about the relationship,
making him look like a giggling school girl while Holmes remains to be pretty
quiet about the whole thing.
Cruise pushes the relationship one step further by stating that he hopes
to spend the rest of his life with her. These are some interesting, if not
crazy, statements from Cruise. It looks like he is setting himself up to
look like an ass. If he and Holmes were to break up sometime after the opening
of both their films, Tom Cruise would look like the fool while Katie Holmes
gets the career boost.
So now I wonder if this is actually a publicity stunt from Cruise. While I am sure Holmes, who is notorious for breaking up with her boyfriends,
is probably using this relationship to her advantage, what if Tom Cruise really has something going on here? Hmmm, just a thought.
