A few days back it was reported that Microsoft
was looking for a buyer for their just-completed movie script for the best-selling
X-Box game Halo [read here].
At the end of the report I had predicted that the only studio that would
probably pick up the script, with the strings attached, would be 20th Century
Fox. Well, I was half right.
Fox and Universal Share Halo Script
According to TheHollywoodReporter,
20th Century Fox and Universal Pictures have teamed up to purchase and put
the Microsoft Halo script to film. Even though it will still take
a little time to settle all for the contract details between FOX, Universal,
and Microsoft, the two studios have already agreed on the distribution terms--
20th Century Fox will handle international rights while Universal will hold
domestic rights.
As of now, the distribution rights are the only
topics that have been decided on when it comes to terms on the Halo
script. There is also no mention on the amount of money each studio had
to kick in for the ten-million dollar purchase price.
