Can Chris Evans' witty one-liners save Fantastic Four?
It seems that my worries may be coming true. After
watching the first two clips released by 20th Century Fox for Fantastic
Four, I could not help feeling that this film didn't look
good. The music wasn't happening, the cinematography was childish, and the
dialogue [when heard] was thin.
Now there has been early screenings of Fantastic Four with reports
beginning to circulate. What do they say? Well, a seven out of ten was the
most optimistic score this film received. OUCH!
Fantastic Four Reviews
The good people over at AICN
have just received not one, not two, but three early movie reviews for the
upcoming comic book adaptation Fantastic Four. The film tells the
story of a group of ordinary people who were exposed to radiation during
a trip to outer space. They come back, discover they have 'gained' superpowers
from the trip, and are ready to take on their new 'responsibility.'
Take this story and throw in a great cast and 20th Century Fox should of
had something going. However, judging by the early clips and early reviews
for Fantastic Four, this film could quickly end up in the Daredevil
pile; and that's not a good pile. To see what I mean, check out a couple
snippets of the Fantastic Four reviews below:
Review 1
I don’t think it is as bad as we all feared, but it is certainly far from “Fantastic.” Just got back from an advanced screening of “Fantastic Four,” and it had the crowd cheering at the end. This is a crowd that also cheered for “Ice Age 2” and “Big Momma’s House 2,” and about thirty other FOX sequel trailers that played before the feature.
Review 2
I'd give it a weak 7 out of 10. In the regions of a Daredevil/Hulk type film... where there is a lot of hope with a sequel. At least it isn't an Elektra. Or worse, a Catwoman. Or even worse, Man-Thing. And with most comic book movies, the end is never truly the end. Now to play more of the Fantastic Four game I bought today from a crackhead for 5 bucks. NYC can be great sometimes.
Looks like the best thing to come out of Fantastic Four is a shot
of Jessica Alba in her underwear. Let's hope I am wrong on that one [even
though I imagine that is pretty nice]. To check out the full reviews, plus
the third 'really negative' review, head over to AICN.
Fantastic Four will have a wide theatrical release on July 8th.
