For all of the fans of the Bourne series
out there that cannot wait to finish this baby up, Universal is finally
moving forward with the final installment, The Bourne Ultimatum,
by hiring Tony Gilroy back on to pen the script. Tony Gilroy, having previous
experience with the last two Bourne films, should have no problem
wrapping this baby up nice and tidy.
Bourne Ultimatum Developments
According to Variety,
Tony Gilroy was paid a nice sum of two million dollars to adapt the Robert
Ludlum book, The Bourne Ultimatum, to a polished screenplay. Even though
Universal has moved forward with the script, there are yet to be any further
guarantees besides Gilroy. Damon shows interest, but says he will only get
involved if he approves of the script; still count him in though.
The largest issue for The Bourne Ultimatum will be the likely loss
of Paul Greengrass, the director of The Bourne Supremacy.
Greengrass has been given such a run around lately by Paramount and other
distribution companies for his next film project, Watchmen, that
he may not be able to afford a hiatus on his project now. However, Paul
Greengrass has also said that he is highly interested in the final installment,
so maybe he will try to work something out; but don't count on it.
